2001: Dr. Michael Keusgen (silver)

The Egon-Stahl Prize in silver has been awarded to Priv.-Doz. Dr Michael Keusgen, Bonn, in recognition of his outstanding studies on the cysteine sulfoxides in Allium species using a biosensor for their quantitative determination enabling a high-throughput of samples.

2002: Dr. Anna Rita Bilia (silver)

The Egon Stahl-Award 2002 with the silver medal has been awarded to Dr. Anna Rita Bilia, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Florence, Italy, in recognition of her valuable contributions to pharmacognosy (pharmaceutical biology) and analytical phytochemistry, in particular by her outstanding and innovative interdisciplinary studies on the quality control of herbal medicinal products.

2003: PD Dr. Jörg Heilmann (silver)

The Society for Medicinal Plant Research presents the Egon Stahl-Award 2003 with the silver medal to PD Dr. Jörg Heilmann in recognition of his valuable contributions to pharmacognosy (pharmaceutical biology) and analytical phytochemistry, in particular by his outstanding studies in the fields of structure elucidation, development of new bioassays on a cellular level, as well as on pharmacokinetic and drug delivery studies.

2004: Dr. Alexandra Marina Deters (bronze)

The Society for Medicinal Plant Research presents the Egon Stahl-Award 2004 with a bronze medal to Dr. Alexandra Marina Deters in recognition of her valuable contributions to pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical biology and analytical phytochemistry, in particular by her outstanding studies on oligo- and polysaccharides, their isolation, characterization and influence on cell physiology of human keratinocytes.

The Egon Stahl-Award 2005 with the silver medal has been awarded to Prof. Dr. Deniz Tasdemir, Institut of Organic Chemistry of the University of Zürich, Switzerland, in recognition of her highly valuable contributions to pharmacognosy (pharmaceutical biology) and analytical phytochemistry, in particular by her outstanding phytochemical and pharmacological studies in the field of plant and marine natural products against malaria and cancer.

2006: Dr. Karin Wölkart (bronze)

The Egon Stahl-Award 2006 with the bronze medal has been awarded to Dr. Karin Wölkart, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Graz, Austria, in recognition of her valuable contributions to pharmacognosy, pharmacology, and analytical phytochemistry, in particular by her outstanding studies on alkamides from Echinacea angustifolia, their isolation and characterization, and the studies of their bioavailability and pharmacokinetics.

2007: Prof. Dr. Alessandra Braca (silver)

The Egon Stahl-Award 2007 with the silver medal has been awarded to Prof. Dr. Alessandra Braca, Department of Bioorganic Chemistry and Biopharmaceutics, University of Pisa, Italy, in recognition of her highly valuable contributions to pharmacognosy and analytical phytochemistry, in particular by her outstanding phytochemical and pharmacological studies in the field of natural products with biological, pharmacological and chemotaxonomic interest.

2008: Dr. Birgit Benedek (bronze)

2012: Dr. Ulrike Grienke (bronze)

The Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research presented the Egon Stahl-Award 2012 with a bronze medal to Dr. Ulrike Grienke, University of Innsbruck, Austria, in recognition of her outstanding thesis in the research area of implementation of chemoinformatic methods in natural product research.

2013: Prof. Dr. Sandra Apers (silver)

The Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research presented the Egon Stahl Award 2013 with the silver medal to Prof. Dr. Sandra Apers, University of Aantwerp, Belgium, in recognition of her excellent research in the fields of isolation, structure elucidation and bioactivity of natural products, as well as analysis and quality control of herbal drugs.

2014: Dr. Kenny Kuchta (bronze)

The Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research presented the Egon Stahl-Award 2014 with a bronze medal to Dr. Kenny Kuchta in recognition of his excellent doctoral research in the area of medicinal plant analysis.

2015: Dr. Maria Halabalaki (silver)

The Society for Medicinal Plants and Natural Products Research presented the Egon Stahl Award 2015 in silver to Dr. Maria Halabalaki, from University of Athens as regognition of her contribution in LC-MS and NMR-based metabolomic studies, and in LC-MS based metabonomic characterization of molecular targets and pathways affected by natural products.

2016: Dr. Gorawit Yusakul (bronze)

The winner of 2016 Bronze Award was Gorawit Yusakul, Thailand. His research is aimed at the preparation of monoclonal and recombinant antibodies for their application in pharmaceutical sciences, in particular for quantification of relevant plant secondary metabolites. The most recent work involves the construction of single chain variable fragments and antigen binding fragment recombinant antibodies against daidzin and taxol. Mr Yusakul has published up to now 17 papers in international peer-reviewed journals.

2017: Dr. Attila Hunyadi (silver) 

The Egon Stahl Award 2017 with the silver medal has been bestowed to Prof. Dr. Attila Hunyadi from the University of Szeged, Hungary, in recognition of his valuable contributions to pharmacognosy, pharmacology and analytical phytochemistry, in particular his studies in natural and semisynthetic ecdysteroids and proto-flavonoids, having strong chemo-sensitizing activity in cancers cell lines.

2018: Dr. Emmy Tuenter (bronze)

The winner of 2018 Bronze Award was Dr. Emmy Tuenter from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Antwerp, Belgium.

Dr. Tuenter obtained her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Antwerp with an outstanding thesis in the field of Pharmacognosy and Analytical Phytochemistry entitled “Cyclopeptide Alkaloids: Isolation, Structure Elucidation, Antiplasmodial Activity and AGEs Inhibiting Properties”. Her PhD fellowship was granted by the Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology in Flanders

2019: Dr. Samad Nejad Ebrahimi (silver)

The Society for medicinal plant and natural product research has pleasure in dedicating the Egon Stahl-Award 2019 with Silver Medal to Prof. Dr. Samad Nejad Ebrahimi for his research on searching for new potent drug candidates against neglected protozoal diseases, natural antimicrobial and cytotoxic compounds from Iranian medicinal plants.

2020: Dr S. Vlad Luca (bronze)

The prestigious Egon Stahl-Award 2020 with Bronze Medal is bestowed to Dr. Simon Vlad Luca from Technical University of Munich, Germany, in recognition of his valuable contributions to pharmaceutical biology and analytical phytochemistry, in particular his studies on bioactive metabolites from Verbascum  ovalifolium Donn ex Sims and Verbascum blattaria L. The Award is dedicated to young scholars up to the age of about thirty whose thesis are of outstanding quality in the fields of pharmaceutical biology and analytical (phyto-)chemistry.
