African-German Research Meeting

The Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology and Phytochemistry at University of Münster (Germany) hosted the annual meeting of an African-German Research Network Infectiology.

The Institute of Pharmaceutical Biology and Phytochemistry at University of Münster (Germany) hosted from 02. to 09. September 2021 the annual meeting of an African-German Research Network Infectiology. This network, consisting of scientists from University of Ngaoundere (Cameroon), University of Ghana and University of Science and Technology (both Ghana), University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (Germany ) and WWU Münster (Faculty of Biology and also Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy) is part of a research program on investigation of molecular mechanisms of anthelmintic proanthocyanidins and ellagitannins from plants and is supported by the German Research Council (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft – DFG). Most of the scientists are long standing GA members, and this research network has in principle evolved from many discussions during GA meetings and student exchanges between the different labs. Finally, good funding was obtained by the German government for this project, as it covers very interdisciplinary advanced phytochemical aspects, in vitro investigations on potential anthelmintic effects against nematode mode3l organisms, ex vivo investigation against different animal parasites, in vivo infection studies and as ex vivo research on human parasites.
