Honorary Senator to Brigitte Kopp

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Brigitte Kopp, who acted as first female GA president in our Society (from 2008 to 2011), was awarded the title of Honorary Senator of the University of Vienna, Austria, on June 21st, 2021.

The title of Honorary Senator at the University of Vienna can be given to personalities who have made a special contribution to the University of Vienna and to the promotion of their academic tasks. The merits of the person to be honored must consist of an extraordinary and long-term commitment to the scientific tasks of the University of Vienna.

…and this is by far fulfilled by our previous GA president:

Brigitte Kopp studied pharmacy, physics and chemistry, received her doctorate from the University of Vienna in 1976 and qualified as a professor in 1984. After several research stays in Germany and the UK, she was a professor at the Institute / Department for Pharmacognosy from 2000 to 2014. From 2004 to 2014 she was the President of Studies Legislation and Affairs of the University of Vienna. Between 2008 and 2011 she was active as President of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research. To this day, Brigitte Kopp is extremely involved in numerous expert commissions fostering the scientific use of natural substances and herbal remedies.

Gitti – cordial congrats from the whole GA team!
