Dr. Paul Spagnuolo is a Professor in the Department of Food Science, University of Guelph, where he leads a research program dedicated to the discovery and development of food-derived bioactive molecules (i.e., nutraceuticals). His work bridges the gap between nutritional science and clinical application, focusing on the validation of nutraceuticals as both prophylactics and therapeutics for metabolic diseases.
His research group has discovered ten novel nutraceuticals, filed four patents, authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, and completed two clinical trials. With an h-index of 30, his research is published in top journals and is supported by national and international agencies.
Dr. Spagnuolo is a recognized leader in the global nutraceutical community. He has received national and international recognitions for his contributions to food bioactives and health; he is the editor of “Nutraceuticals and Human Health: The Food-to-Supplement Paradigm”, a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Natural Health Product Research, and an Associate Editor for Nutrition Reviews.
