25th Congress of the International Society for Ethnopharmacology (ISE)

September 14-17, 2026, Foligno (Italy)

Four days of lectures and discussions on medicinal plants of ethnobotanical origin, together with distinguished ethnopharmacologists from around the world, set in an environment rich in history, Renaissance culture, and excellent food in Foligno, in the green heart of Italy.

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 25th International Congress of the ISE, which will take place from 14 to 17 September 2026 in the historic city of Foligno, in the heart of Umbria, Italy.
The central theme of this landmark edition is “Ethnopharmacology as Transcultural Medicine”, highlighting the growing recognition of traditional medical knowledge as a valuable resource for global health. In a world of increasing cultural interconnectedness, ethnopharmacology offers unique insights into the therapeutic practices of diverse communities — building bridges between ancient healing systems and modern biomedical research.
The congress will be an international platform for interdisciplinary dialogue among scientists, clinicians, ethnobotanists, pharmacologists, anthropologists, and healthcare professionals. We will explore the clinical relevance of medicinal plants and natural products, their role in integrative medicine, and the challenges of validating and translating traditional remedies into evidence-based applications.
Foligno 2026 will feature plenary lectures, thematic symposia, roundtables, and interactive sessions. Special attention will be given to the ethical and regulatory dimensions of traditional medicine, the standardization of natural products, and their application in both human and veterinary health.
We warmly invite you to join us in Foligno to celebrate this 25th anniversary of the ISE Congress — a global conversation where tradition and science converge.

Basic Research and Clinical Practice – Interdisciplinary Mistletoe Symposium

04.11.-06.11.2027 in Nonnweiler (Germany)

Organizers:
Association of Anthroposophic Doctors in Germany
Society for Phytotherapy
Zentralverband der Ärzte für Naturheilverfahren u. Regulationsmedizin (ZAEN) e.V.

Objectives:
The 9th Mistletoe Symposium is the continuation of a series of mistletoe symposia that take place every 4 years as face-to-face events. Here scientists and doctors shall come together, present and discuss latest results from medicine and pharmacy, research and clinical practice, that a comprehensive picture of the current state of knowledge of the mistletoe in tumour therapy is created. Based on this the use of mistletoe preparations can be developed further, and their potential and limitations be identified. This explains why this interdisciplinary dialogue, which cuts across the borders of the various therapy approaches, is so important. The organisers would like to extend an invitation to this symposium.

In the clinical part of the symposium a current clinical topic or on the treatment of a single tumour entity is chosen as a topic for special attention. This shall be dealt with in depth from the perspective of the conventional oncology and in terms of the contribution which mistletoe preparations can make to the management of this condition.
